“Bring me the idea while it’s still chaos. I’ll lean in, tilt my head, and find the frame nobody else saw.”

Art Director & Senior Graphic Designer

I take ideas at their messiest and turn them into the best visual they can be.

Ten years in design, the last two leading a design team. Identity systems, campaigns, key art for artists and films, and cover systems for creators with real audiences. Branding is where it started, and still the part I’m strongest at.

Three things people notice

  1. The head tiltI tilt my head and lean into the screen until I’m almost inside the frame. That’s where I catch what everyone else scrolled past: the crop, the spacing, the one detail that’s off.
  2. The easy stageThe comment I hear most from the people I work with is that I’m the easiest person they’ve worked with. Teams look forward to the stage where the work is with me, because they know it’s the one that goes smoothly.
  3. Sensible madnessI love the idea that breaks the logic. My job is to deliver it in the simplest, most beautiful form, so it lands instead of confusing.
The new studio

AI, with a designer’s eye.

I use AI the way a director uses a crew. The tools generate; the decisions stay mine. Every frame still answers to composition, type, light and the brand’s rules, and that is the difference between someone who owns an image generator and an art director who knows what to do with one.

  • StrongerTen years of design principles decide what gets kept, so the output holds up next to work made the old way.
  • FasterScenes, products and key art that used to wait for a shoot reach review in days.
  • LeanerFewer shoots, sets and reshoots, so more of the budget goes into the idea.
Leading the room

Teams, briefs and the reveal.

I’ve led multidisciplinary teams at Storia, Art Vision and HBBAH: graphic designers, video editors, motion designers and content creators, all working on one idea.

The brief
A brief is only as good as its questions. I ask the client the right ones, including the ones they didn’t know to ask, then turn the answers into visuals and clear directions the team can run with.
The reveal
Clients see the work at the end, finished and applied the way it will actually live, so they judge the result with their own eyes instead of imagining it.

How a project runs

  1. DiscoveryA written brief from the client, then the market and the competitors.
  2. StrategyWhat the brand has to say, and to whom, before anything is drawn.
  3. ConceptIdeas in black and white. Colour waits until the idea is approved.
  4. SystemShapes, colour, type and the rules that hold them, written down.
  5. HandoverComplete files, and support on anything the identity touches after launch.
Oil sketch of Ammar at the easel, pointing at the canvas.
The studio. Every work in this museum started as a blank canvas and a brief.
